Questions about X-ray
May 7, 2024 | FAQ
How long until my provider has the results?
Most exams have results within 2 hours. Some specialty exams may take longer.
When will I be able to view the imaging?
If you have the patient portal, most images are viewable when the report has been finalized.
Can I get a copy of the imaging? How long of a wait is that?
If you require a physical copy of the imaging, we can burn you a CD, which takes about 10 minutes.
Do I have to change my clothes?
Depending on your attire and area of interest that needs the imaging, you have to change for us. We do provide scrubs if needed. Please be aware that the clothing requirements are different for each type of exam/modality (ie XR, CT, MRI, US, Mamms)
Will this exam affect my phone or credit cards?
No, XR imaging will not affect those items. You are thinking of MRI.
What do you see? Or….how bad is it?
We cannot disclose any information or feedback as an attempt of diagnosing. Our Specialty Radiologists are the ones to interpret the images and a final report to your Provider/doctor.
What do you need me to do?
It is helpful to remove all jewelry from the problem area and wear easy to change clothing. Please do not bring your children to your appointment as we cannot have them in the XR suite and we do not have anyone to watch them.
Can I have the report sent to my other doctor?
Yes. During registration, there is an option to add other doctors. You can also ask the Concierge for assistance to add other doctors.
Will XR show a tear in the joint?
XRs shows primarily bone and borders of soft tissue. If you have questions about what exam you should have, you will need to follow up with your doctor. We cannot recommend or suggest exams for you. That is the responsibility of your doctor.
Do I need to turn my body around so we get images of the opposite side too?
Since x-rays pass through your body, it would look like a mirrored image if we were to position your body the opposite way, leading to unnecessary exposure. Depending on anatomy of interest, we position you specific ways to help reduce magnification of certain anatomy.
