KODIAK ISLAND, Alaska — Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center (PKIMC) will collaborate with Alaska Radiology Associates (ARA) to provide full-spectrum imaging services to Kodiak.
This collaboration will result in more options for patients, including a full range of high-quality imaging and professional radiology services. ARA — Alaska’s largest private practice radiology group — began serving patients in Kodiak on May 24.
“We are excited to welcome Alaska Radiology Associates to the Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center care team,” said Karl Hertz, administrator of PKIMC. “Their experience, dedication, and expertise are a huge asset to our patients and providers, ensuring people get the care they need where and when they need it.”
Some of the improvements include sub-specialty radiologists in Neuroradiology, Breast Radiology, Body Imaging, Vascular Imaging, Musculoskeletal Imaging, and many new imaging-guided procedures previously only available off-island, substantially faster turnaround times with most routine exams reported in under an hour (urgent exams in under 30 minutes) and 24/7 real-time coverage with final reports. Patients will receive the highest quality sub-specialty diagnostic services and providers will receive their results much sooner, enabling faster and more accurate treatment.
“PKIMC and ARA are working together on further upgrades to the services available,” said Christopher M. Reed, M.D., President, Alaska Radiology Associates. “Additionally, ARA has purchased a home on the island to house our care team as we rotate through the medical center on a weekly basis.” ... Martin Eckmann owner of Alaska Sausage and Seafood takes a moment to tell us why he believes in preventative screening and the Carotid Artery Exam available at Imaging Associates. For Martin, Imaging Associates in Anchorage is his go to place for preventative imaging and is a firm believer in obtaining life saving exams like the Carotid Artery Exam. This simple exam shows him the level of plaque that has built up along the walls of his Carotid Artery that increases his risk of a stroke. Eckmann's message to the men of Alaska is simple, “ Take charge of your life and get some peace of mind like me”. Imaging Associates is my partner for life saving exams. ... See MoreSee Less
Imaging Associates applauds men like Martin Eckmann, with @Alaska Sausage and Seafood, who have taken the steps to learn what’s happening with their bodies by getting a coronary calcium scoring exam. A cardiac CT scan for coronary calcium is a simple, non-invasive way of detecting levels of plaque in the coronary arteries that put you at risk for a heart attack. Because calcium is a marker of Coronary Artery Disease, the amount of calcium detected on a cardiac CT scan is a very helpful prognostic tool and can often be lifesaving! If you are 50 or older, talk to your physician about getting this done at Imaging Associates.
Many times Men put their health on the back burner for what they feel is the greater good. Certainly through times like the Covid 19 pandemic even more men put off thinking about or taking action to take care of their health. Take a moment and share this story with your friends and loved ones.
